This is an educational foundation founded in 1973 by the honorary chairman Koo Ja-kyeong to honor the wish of the late inaugural chairman Koo In-hwoi who had the vision of fostering human resources and promoting science and technology.
The inaugural chairman Yonam (蓮庵) Koo In-hwoi, who has significantly contributed to the economic growth of Korea by founding LG Group, recognized the corporate social responsibility and founded the Yonam Culture Foundation in 1969 to engage in public social culture services and educational projects for fostering talented human resources.
Following the will of the inaugural chairman Yonam Koo In-hwoi, the first chairman of LG Yongam Education Foundation Koo Ja-kyeong (current LG honorary chairman) recognized the need to foster human resources for the balanced development of rural areas which was overshadowed by the industrial growth during the 1970s, and thus founded the education foundation.

The foundation aims to be established through an investment by Yonam Culture Foundation according to clause 2.3 of its articles of association to foster excellent human resources and promote science and technology in order to accelerate the modernization of Korea and enhance its national culture, and intends to be operated by the continuous support of the foundation.
To achieve the 3 goals the government is focusing on: significant growth of rural areas, fostering of heavy chemical industry, and sharp growth of exports, the foundation aims to establish and run a technical high school specializing in the livestock industry in response to the government’s ‘plans to drastically increase technical schools’ based on ‘Making all Koreans Scientific.’
Accordingly, the foundation intends to establish schools in the region where there are no schools within Cheonan-gun, Chungcheongbuk province, which is designated as our national livestock complex in response to the government’s policy to disperse educational institutes to other provinces and promote the livestock industry. We also aim to conduct practical and efficient education and field education through industry-academia collaboration by exempting all school expenses such as admission and tuition fees, and by providing dormitories and modern livestock training facilities.
The Yonam Education Foundation desires to take part in the projects for increasing rural income such as the Saemaul Movement for improving agricultural productivity by promoting and cooperating in the government’s agricultural specialization project for rural villages. In light of the global demand for livestock products on the rise due to the decline of the livestock industry in developed countries, we aim to establish the foundation to achieve the goal of exporting 10 billion dollars’ worth of goods and reach the national income of 1,000 dollars by cultivating technology and labor and popularizing corporate management on the livestock industry from the aspect that it is the only growth industry forecasted to be the export industry of rural villages.
